There Is Power in Asking for Help

Written By: Lauren Howard

There is power in asking for help.

And it’s not always in the help that you get, honestly, even though community showing up is powerful.

There is some sort of cosmic impact. Like universal Draino or something.

I was mentally blocked for days on end, which was causing massive amounts of anxiety. Nothing we were doing was working. Contracts were paused. Engagement was down. Our plans were moving at a snail's pace.

I called a friend to talk through some of our challenges thinking that they could provide the key.

In reality, we just talked about everything under the sun for an hour. They gave me their perspective on the things that were standing in our way, but it wasn’t an actionable list. It was conjecture. It got my brain moving. It put some ideas out in the universe.

The next day? The things started coming in. Engagement was better. Clients woke up. The progress was more than trickling in.

Is the outcome related to the action? I mean, I can’t prove that. Could have been a full coincidence.

But I will choose to believe that being vulnerable with the universe leads to better things.

And you might just get the hand that you need for whatever is standing in your way, cosmic or otherwise.
