And you know what? I picked the person with industry experience first because I thought I was supposed to, and he was absolutely the wrong hire. He didn’t even make it to the first week.
Glad that I got a second chance on that.
There are lots of those people looking for someone to give them a shot.
Find someone with critical thinking skills and transferrable experience, and everything else will show up where you need it.
Oh, and pay people fairly. That too.
