Have you ever been told that you’re not ready, but then no one could tell you what ready was?
Yeah.
That’s because they’re judging you by a standard that doesn’t exist.
They have a reason for not promoting you, not training you, not helping you advance, and they don’t want to tell you what it is.
It could be something simple like not having a backfill, or it could be something more insidious like bias, not wanting to pay you fair market value, or something else that could get them in a heap of trouble.
If there isn’t a path to getting you there, it’s because they are incentivized to keep you out.
It’s time to look for the next thing.
If they can’t tell you, it doesn’t exist.
Read that again.
