We are excited to share a selection of favorite vacation book recommendations from the elletwo community! Whether you are taking a trip or enjoying a relaxing weekend at home - the below are sure to fit the bill.

Megan L. recommends: Author Gail Carriger

“I absolutely love Gail’s Parasolverse. It’s three distinct Victorian series set in the same steampunk supernatural universe. They’re funny with just enough romance to make it interesting. You can technically read the series in any order, or you can read them straight through for the full timeline. And bonus? LGBTQ+ representation as main characters figuring life out. Mystery, drama, vampires and shapeshifters, mad scientists, and dirigible travel. It has it all!”

Marni L. recommends: The In-Between: Unforgettable Encounters During Life's Final Moments, by Hadley Vlahos, RN “Having recently experienced hospice care and end of life with my stepdad, I found this book to be comforting and uplifting. The author tells her own story with the stories of others she cared for as a hospice nurse. This may not seem like a fun summer book, but I really enjoyed it and recommend it for anyone - especially if you've experienced the death of a loved one.”

Irene G. recommends: Author Jessica Park

“Jessica's writings pack an impressive punch- light enough to be YA, yet soul-affirming enough for everyone. Additionally, she is a terrific person!”

Meredith C. recommends: JD Robb's In Death Series

“Imagine Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, but set in the future. JD Robb (Nora Roberts) has written almost 60 books in the series that started in 1995 with Naked In Death set in 2058. Books are a formulaic 20 chapters where NYC cop, Lt. Eve Dallas solves serial murders along with her team of billionaire husband Roarke and the rest of the NYPD. You don't have to start at the beginning, each book stands alone, but does have some references to the character backstories and old cases.”
